UK – British fiber-based packaging supplier DS Smith has selected Amazon Web Services (AWS) as its preferred cloud provider to expedite innovation, advance efficiencies, and aid sustainable solutions development.
Under the partnership, DS Smith will concentrate on harnessing data to drive growth and efficiency across its entire business, including real-time monitoring of manufacturing capacity and supply chain management to achieve key sustainability goals.
The British packaging solutions provider will offer new digital customer experiences and accelerate automation at scale throughout its supply chain to gain deeper business intelligence.
DS Smith will use AWS’s global infrastructure, advanced analytics, Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning technologies, including AWS’s generative AI services.
AWS UKI general manager Jeff Johnson said: “Moving to AWS will enable DS Smith to accelerate transformation and innovation by increasingly putting data at the heart of its business.
“We are proud to support DS Smith on their cloud migration journey, and to help them build and deliver innovative solutions that will form the foundation of the future of supply chains and manufacturing.”
DS Smith will create a Data Factory using AWS that will combine data from across its organization including facilities, logistics, processes, machinery and products.
The cloud provider will support the packaging company to gain actionable insights and take faster, more informed decisions to improve operations, predict the demand of customer, and lower waste and carbon emissions.
In addition, the British firm will leverage AWS to track its manufacturing capacity and supply chain using real-time monitoring for a complete end-to-end view. This will allow an agile and responsive approach to supply chain management.
Both parties will also conduct an AWS Learning Needs Analysis (LNA) and provide AWS cloud skills training and development programs.
DS Smith Group chief information officer Claire Dickson said: “Our journey to the future is already underway and AWS has a huge role to play.
“Digital and data solutions are going to revolutionize the way we grow, delight and support our customers and tackle some of our planet’s biggest sustainability challenges.”
