ALPLA opens two packaging plants in Türkiye to expand MEA capacity

TÜRKIYE – ALPLA Group has commissioned two new packaging plants in Izmir and Adana, investing approximately EUR 30 million (US$35.2 million) to expand production capacity and reinforce Türkiye’s role within its Africa, Middle East and Türkiye region.

The sites supply customers in the beverage, food and dairy sectors, as well as home care and personal care applications. 

The Izmir plant primarily serves customers in the Aegean region and western Türkiye, while the Adana site supplies markets in the Mediterranean region and south-eastern Türkiye.

Together, the two plants provide the foundation for short lead times, high flexibility and reliable supply in key consumer goods markets. 

Modern production technologies, automation solutions, photovoltaic systems and rainwater harvesting systems support resource-efficient operations.

Leadership Cites Customer Proximity and Regional Strategy

Philipp Lehner, chief executive of ALPLA Group, said Türkiye combined industrial strength, a dynamic consumer goods industry and significant future potential. 

He added that the new facilities created conditions to support customers more effectively and continue growing alongside them as a reliable partner. 

Javier Delgado, regional managing director for AMET at ALPLA, noted that Türkiye played a key role in the company’s regional strategy, enabling broader geographical coverage and strengthening its position as a system provider, with plans to continue expanding activities step by step over coming years. 

Emre Canoglu, managing director of ALPLA Türkiye, said the plants brought the company closer to customers while investing in modern technologies and production capacity, contributing to long-term business development in the country.

Official Opening Ceremonies Held in Both Cities

The sites were officially opened on 14 September in Adana and 15 September in Izmir in the presence of Lehner, chief operating officer Walter Ritzer and numerous guests. 

The Austrian Ambassador, Gabriele Juen, also attended the Izmir ceremony.

New Sites Complement Nationwide Production Network

The two facilities complement ALPLA’s existing production network in Türkiye and significantly increase nationwide capacity. 

The company has operated in the country since 1992 and now runs plants in Kocaeli, Ankara, Konya, Adana and Izmir. 

Türkiye ranks among its most important production and competence centres within the AMET region, accounting for around one-third of its capacities and business activities. 

Izmir covers approximately 50,000 square metres and is designed as a versatile production platform for PET preforms, closures, HDPE and PET bottles. 

Adana spans 20,000 square metres and focuses on PET preforms alongside HDPE and PP packaging solutions.
